Description

This high-quality CNC machined pitot tube assembly is made entirely of durable 6061-T6 aluminum and will easily mount on most homebuilt aircraft. The probe extends 20-9/16 inches from the rear surface of the base, which is made to mount onto any flat surface using two 3/16 in. bolts. Typically, the unit will be mounted to the front of the forward wing spar or on a flat mounting plate, and protrude through the leading edge of the wing through a 1/2 inch hole in the leading edge. The airspeed probe screws into the base, and the two pressure lines (static and dynamic pressure) that run to the ASI, altimeter, and climb indicator/variometer connect to the unit with standard 3/8 inch NPT thread. The mounting holes in the base are 3/16 inches in diameter, and the hole centers are 1-3/8 inches apart. The base measures 1 inch x 2 in. Though this unit may be mounted in any position, we recommend mounting the base with the long axis vertically if possible to provide the maximum resistance to G-loads and the weight of the probe itself. The entire unit weighs only 0.55 lbs and it is possible to polish the unit to a mirror finish, if desired.

Our static-dynamic pitot tube assembly includes the ram air pressure probe including integrated static pressure ports, and the machined aluminum base. You may use a tubing system of your choice to connect it to your ASI, altimeter, and climb indicator/variometer. Should you wish to use a separate static pressure source, we also offer a less-expensive pitot tube for dynamic pressure only in a separate listing.

IMPORTANT: Never use Teflon tape or a similar material to seal any threaded connections within the pitot or static pressure systems! Tape fragments can cause blockages resulting in damage, failures, and inaccurate indications affecting the Air Speed Indicator, Altimeter, or other vital flight instruments.
