Caption: Drexel A. Scott, EAA 4448, of 302 Home Savings & Loan Building, Youngstown, Ohio, is the present owner of this Pitts "Special", N-22E. This is the same airplane flown to fame by Betty Skelton in 1948-49. At that time, the aircraft was powered with an 85 hp Continental, and is currently powered by a 170 hp Lycoming.

Joyce Case Funsch graces this month's cover of SPORT AVIATION. The young lady does amazing things with the Pitts Special, at one time holding the title of women's aerobatic champion of the world. She has just added another accomplishment as she has received her Air Transport Rating... still in her twenties!

Both of these excellent aerobatic pilots have earned the title of "Women's Aerobatic Champion." Mary's Pitts is powered with a 160 hp Lycoming while Joyce's ship has a 180 hp Lycoming powerplant.
